Mt. Lesung

Lesung is a mortar for pounding rice people used before technology come. If you see from Google Map or Earth, you could see that there is a hole, just like a lesung.

After do some research, I started to invite some friends to join. We started from Ubud at 5am, stop in some places to meet friends from another direction. We started the trek from The chinese temple.
Big trees near Lake Tamblingan
I took the wrong route and we couldn't get to the top. According to my map, the top is only a hundred kilometre left, but there are plenty of poisonous plants so we couldn't go through it.
Big trees in Tamblingan forest

The second time I did with a Russian friend, i'm planning to try another route. We get into the start point quite easy, keep walking on the dirt road and then take the path in the left side. The path was quite clear and in same point we could see the view.
We reached the rim quite fast, and then we need to walk around  to get to the highest point.

After walking around a half or the rim, we reached the top which is a small temple  with  high bushes surrounding and three trees. Since we can't see the view, we tried to climb the trees.

My next curiosity is the old crater(the one with 'lesung' shape), i heard that there are deers living down there! So we tried to go down and it was fun. But we couldn't  reach the bottom  because there are fences from woods and dried grass.
We could see the old crater slightly
Since there are big trees with hanging roots, we tried to swing, it wasn't easy but very fun and safe.

Since I couldn't reach the bottom of the old crater, i will definitely  come back next time.

Here is the coordinate for the first start point (The Chinese Temple) -8.259763,115.102671 and the second stat point  -8.280111,115.094663

  1. i read your blog and get inspired.
if you want to visit lubang nagaloka - that is a cave. if you look at the open street maps - i put the way inside. the hole is just the crater from gunung lesung.
the information on google maps is wrong. if my webpage is working (my provider is sleeping sometimes) take a look at www.mountains-of-bali.info
    best regards
